Nate Langstraat of WCC at Social Media Conference NW 2010

Drew Graham of Varvid speaks with Nate Langstraat. Langstraat is the Associate Director for Advancement for Whatcom Community College.  He appreciated the opportunity to attend the event, and is enthusiastic to be involved with determining the best way to leverage Social Media for the school and its programs.

Nate also now sees the value in utilizing Video as a key part of their Social Media initiatives, after seeing speaker Aaron Booker of Varvid.com’s presentation on Online Video.

Drew Graham of Varvid spreak with Matthew Dunn of Sayitvisually.com. The first Plenary Session of the Social Media Conference Northwest 2010 was presented by Matthew and this piece articulates the main points he made: Business owners are in the publishing business, that the quality of content you put up matters, as well as the number of relationships you have.

Dunn also clarified how you cannot count on ‘weak links’ – people in your network may or may not be the conduit to new business, but you have to allow them the opportunity.

Drew Graham of Varvid talks to Jonathan McIntyre of iTelework. Jonathon was impressed to learn just how important Video will be to leverage Social Media moving forward.  He also reiterates the importance of remembering the effect your web presence has on how new and existing customers perceive you- professional or not

Gary Caplin from Diehl Ford at the Social Media Conference NW 2010

Caplin said repeatedly that he was really impressed with the turnout at this event and is working hard to leverage Ford Motor Company’s tremendous success with Social Media.

He also really appreciated Plenary Speaker Aaron Booker of Varvid.com’s presentation on “Online Video as Part of Your Social Media Strategy” and completely agrees with Booker’s concept of ‘record once, play many times’.

Gary shared that one of the testimonial videos he produced for Diehl Ford has been adopted by Ford Motor Company of America and was viewed over 5000 times over the past several months.
