Aaron Booker of Varvid speaks with Debbye Omlie from WWU’s Center for Economic Vitality. Debbie comments on the differences and improvements that have been made for this year’s conference over the previous one in 2008.

There is more internet connectivity being utilized as devices such as smart phones and laptops are more prevalent today.  Also, she addresses the evolution of Social Media itself- it was pretty much brand new in 2008 at the first Social Media Conference Northwest and Debbye is pleased to see that most of the attendees this time have at least some familiarity with the medium.

The first Plenary Session of the Social Media Conference Northwest 2010 was presented by Matthew and this piece articulates the main points he made: Business owners are in the publishing business, that the quality of content you put up matters, as well as the number of relationships you have.

Dunn also clarified how you cannot count on ‘weak links’ – people in your network may or may not be the conduit to new business, but you have to allow them the opportunity.

Caplin said repeatedly that he was really impressed with the turnout at this event and is working hard to leverage Ford Motor Company’s tremendous success with Social Media.

He also really appreciated Plenary Speaker Aaron Booker of Varvid.com’s presentation on “Online Video as Part of Your Social Media Strategy” and completely agrees with Booker’s concept of ‘record once, play many times’.

Gary shared that one of the testimonial videos he produced for Diehl Ford has been adopted by Ford Motor Company of America and was viewed over 5000 times over the past several months.
