As a managed IT provider, AgniTEK looks to focus on growing into the health care and financial industries. Aaron Booker of Varvid speaks with Debbye Omlie from WWU’s Center for Economic Vitality. Debbie comments on the differences and improvements that have been made for this year’s conference over the previous one in 2008.

There is more internet connectivity being utilized as devices such as smart phones and laptops are more prevalent today.  Also, she addresses the evolution of Social Media itself- it was pretty much brand new in 2008 at the first Social Media Conference Northwest and Debbye is pleased to see that most of the attendees this time have at least some familiarity with the medium.

Langstraat is the Associate Director for Advancement for Whatcom Community College.  He appreciated the opportunity to attend the event, and is enthusiastic to be involved with determining the best way to leverage Social Media for the school and its programs.

Nate also now sees the value in utilizing Video as a key part of their Social Media initiatives, after seeing speaker Aaron Booker of Varvid.com’s presentation on Online Video.

Drew Graham of Varvid spreak with Matthew Dunn of Sayitvisually.com. The first Plenary Session of the Social Media Conference Northwest 2010 was presented by Matthew and this piece articulates the main points he made: Business owners are in the publishing business, that the quality of content you put up matters, as well as the number of relationships you have.

Dunn also clarified how you cannot count on ‘weak links’ – people in your network may or may not be the conduit to new business, but you have to allow them the opportunity.

Caplin said repeatedly that he was really impressed with the turnout at this event and is working hard to leverage Ford Motor Company’s tremendous success with Social Media.

He also really appreciated Plenary Speaker Aaron Booker of Varvid.com’s presentation on “Online Video as Part of Your Social Media Strategy” and completely agrees with Booker’s concept of ‘record once, play many times’.

Gary shared that one of the testimonial videos he produced for Diehl Ford has been adopted by Ford Motor Company of America and was viewed over 5000 times over the past several months.

Amy Hodge, Senior Community Consultant from ConnectWise chats with Aaron Booker from Varvid about the value of SMB VoIP and Channel Partners Shows in Las Vegas March 3 2010.

Amy mentions the surprise some of their customers experienced that ConnectWise was at these shows.

She explains that ConnectWise can be utilized by many different IT segments, and answers the questions “What is a Professional Service Automation (PSA)?” and “How can I make money with it?”



Matt Makowicz from Ambition Consulting chats with Aaron Booker about the value of SMB VoIP and Channel Partners

Matt Makowicz of Ambition Consulting based in New Jersey and author of “A Guide to Selling Managed Services” talks to Aaron Booker from Varvid about the continuing convergence of traditional Telecom with IT.  He brings up interesting points about how it is easier for IT firms to make suggestions about Telecom, than Telecom firms making suggestions about IT.

Makowicz also comments that it’s heartening to see the growing cooperation between the two industries- IT and Telecom, and that they both have a lot to learn and benefit from one another.
